A garment, and the business behind it

Most sustainability ratings collapse everything into a single number — which means a business with a genuinely clean supply chain and a poorly-made garment scores identically to one with an excellent garment and an opaque factory. The Planet Fashion Standard keeps these separate on purpose.

The Planet Fashion Grade

Each score rolls up to a single letter grade — a front-of-pack summary, the same way a nutrition label pairs a traffic light with an ingredients table. The grade never replaces the category breakdown; it sits alongside it.

A90–100
B75–89
C60–74
D40–59
E20–39
F0–19

An organisation or product needs disclosed evidence in at least 80% of a score's weighted categories before a grade is published. Below that threshold, it's marked Not yet assessed — an absent grade and a failing one are different signals, and the Standard never confuses the two.

Built so it can't be influenced

A rating body that can be neutral must not be open to influence with financial or other incentives. Every mechanic in the Standard exists to keep the score tied to evidence, not marketing.

01

Confidence-weighted

An independently audited claim and a self-reported one are never scored the same. Self-reported figures are capped, regardless of the number claimed.

02

No pay-to-play

Planet Fashion accepts no payment, sponsorship, or in-kind consideration from any organisation being scored — a hard rule, not a stated intention.

03

Versioned & re-assessed

Every score carries the date it was assessed and the methodology version used. Organisation scores are refreshed at least annually.

04

Correctable

Any organisation can dispute a score with evidence. Every dispute is logged publicly, whether or not the score changes.
